End November, motor sport fans always gather in Essen, Germany. Reason is the annual Essen Motor Show.
About a week long, the exhibition halls in Essen are transformed into a monstrous temple dedicated to motor sport and tuning. However, the orientation this year was stronger towards motor sport. Approximately 105000 visitors came to the start of the horsepower festival which began last Friday with the Preview and Press Day and started officialy for the general public on Saturday.
Frank Thorwirth, Chairman and CEO of the MESSE Essen stated :
"The Essen Motor Show is thus confirming its position as the premier international tuning fair and leading motor sport fair in Germany.
With its large number of special events and live action which no other fair in Germany offers in this density, it
is the most multifaceted automobile show."
Despite the very positive comments on the Essen Motorshow, it seemed that the economical situation had its influence too, as there was no
German car factory attending. Of course there were lots of Mercedes, BMW, Porsches, but no official attendance by these car makers.
