A spectacular fifth edition of this bi-annual event.
Just some weeks ago, the city of Le Mans was the world capital of race-cars, as hundreds of thousands of people gathered to watch the famous long distance race , the 24H of Le Mans. For a long period,the race track was only used for this great race. But back in 2002, there was a change, as the first Le Mans Classic was organised. Main goal was to gather vintage race cars back on the track, where they belong. But.. there is one golden rule, you can only subscribe a car of a type that once race in the 24H of Le Mans between 1923 and 1980.
And racing, that’s what Le Mans Classic is all about... it’s not just a typical event where cars are put on the lawn and shown to the public. No, at Le Mans Classic, the cars do what they are built for, they struggle for victory in a race.
The cars are divided into grids, where age of the car counts as separator.. Grid 1 for the 1923 - 1948 cars, Grid 2 1949 - 1956 ,Grid 3 1957 - 1961, Grid 4 1962 - 1965, Grid 5 1966 - 1971, Grid 6 1972 - 1979
And for us, Porsche addicts, ofcourse there was so much to enjoy.. Porsche 356 , 550 Spyder, 904 Carrera GTS , Porsche 906, 908 and 910, ofcourse Porsches 911, some real rare versions like the Porsche 911ST, Porsche 914/6, several Porsches 917...
Too bad you can’t smell the fuel, hear the roaring engines, feel the heat of the engines, but you can enjoy this great pictures! See you in 2 years ...
