Historic Race and aviation show or fancy dress party ?
Actually , it's hard to make a decision on what the Goodwood Revival really is. Goal is to recreate the golden era of car racing in the period 1948 – 1966. One of the methods used to achieve this, is to encourage the spectators to dress period-style.. so next to just wonderful racing cars, you can admire lots of people in clothes from back then.
In a sensational atmosphere, last year over 130.000 visitors admired the cars, the races, the airplanes , the people and the premises of the Goodwood and Earl of March properties.
This year the event was supported by the Porsche Museum who brought a 1 of 4 Porsche 718 W-RS (chassis 046) , called 'Der Grossmutter' , the grandmother, because of it's amazin long racing history. The 718 W-RS (chassis 046) at Goodwood is the actual car that drove to victory in the Targa Florio.
Another great car, private owned by a Belgian collector, was a Porsche 550 Spyder (chassis 550-016) . The very first Porsche 550 Spyder ever sold to a private person, Josef Jeser. The car raced in many races in Europe, was sold to Heini Walter by Josef Jeser, and bought at a Monaco Auction in 2008,
The car has some unique features, among them the sloping Porsche Spyder badge...
As you can see on the pictures, this event can't be missed.. to keep an eye on the next year's agenda.
