It was already known that the Carmel & Monterey area (California, USA) will be invaded by many Porsche enthusiasts because of the Porsche Race Car Classic event, organised by Steve Heinrichs, the man who was responsable for the organisation of the fabulous 50th Speedster anniversary event in 2004.
Porsche Cars North America now just announced that the Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will take place October 14-16 at the nearby and world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The Porsche Race Car Classic will celebrate Porsche’s most significant early race cars and pilots in a non-concours environment. Steve Heinrichs, producer of the Porsche Race Car Classic explains, “This gathering of production and purpose-built race cars from Porsche’s break-out era of 1950-1965 will include Gmünds, Glöcklers, 550s, 718s, 804s, 904s, 356s, Abarths and more - in numbers and provenance never before seen.”
The organizers of the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at PCNA and PRCC are coordinating their activities so that some of these entries will see track time at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca prior to the PRCC gathering on Sunday at Quail. “We are thrilled to be part of this historic Porsche race car weekend,” said Heinrichs, “ and we’re proud to be donating all net proceeds to aid lung cancer research.”
While the approximately 200 cars at the Porsche Race Car Classic will be by-invitation-only, the general public is invited to celebrate alongside the cars and drivers that made Porsche famous and the event is expected to sell out.
