The Stuttgart Jubileum Corso
The start of the automobil summer in Stuttgart was an overwhelming successExactly 125 years ago, in Ladenburg, a small city in the Southwest region of Germany, called Baden-Württemberg , Carl Benz invented the car with patent 3 74 35 .
Ofcourse the region Baden-Württemberg couldn’t make it not to remember this wonderfull event, as the region still is the beating heart of the German car industry. So it decided to organise the Automobile Summer (Autosommer in German), a period which lasts for no less than 125 days and has some great events.
Last sunday, may 8th, the real start of the “Autosommer” took place. And it was an event to be enjoyed. No less than 125 cars, all Porsche, Mercedes and Audi drove from the Porsche Museum direction Mercedes Museum and final destination was the Schlossplatz in the heart of Stuttgart.
Let’s focus on the Porsches , how many opportunities do we have to see the Porsche 60K10, Wolfgang Porsche himself driving the Porsche number 1 , several Porsches 356 among them a rare Porsche 356 police car and a Porsche 356 BT6 Carrera GT which won the ‘Best of Show price’, a Porsche 718/2 F1 car driven by Klaus Bischof, a Porsche 356 Carrera Abarth. Did I mention the real race cars like the Porsche 550 Spyder, the Porsche 908/3, the Porsche 917 driven by Hans Herrmann at the corse, the well known Porsche 356 A Carrera, formerly driven by late Paul-Ernst Strähle with the iconical license plate WN-V2.
Or how about Peter Falk at the steering wheel of the Porsche 911/84 Paris-Dakar Car, or the famous belgian race driver Jacky Ickx driving a Porsche 936.
Right, this was an event you couldn’t miss as a real Porsche fan. And in case you did, please sit down, relax and enjoy the pictures.
