Each year end august / begin september, the little village of Zolder in the woods of Limburg (Belgium) becomes heart of what is one of the major modern endurance races in Belgium, the 24h of Zolder.
Most of you know of the race track of Zolder because of it's F1 history. And ofcourse many of you remember Zolder as the race track where Gilles Villeneuve lost his life
during the F1 qualifying sessions in 1982.
Next to several smaller races, the track is open for training on most thursdays. It looks like recently the race track gained more international intrest again, as the Superleague Formula race stroke down
in Zolder in 2008. This year, no less than 2 of the 4 FIA World Championship races were held at Zolder, and the World Touring Car Championship
The 24h of Zolder is the most important race in the BELCAR Enduracen Championship, where most (if not all) of the major belgian pilots gather to compete. Next to competitors of the Belcar Endurace Racing,
the grid was completed with competitors of both the Belgian Touring Car Series and the Dutch Supercar Challenge. Among them former GT1 car, but GT2 en GT3's too.
As a support race to the 24h of Zolder, you could enjoy a race of the Belgian Historic Cup.
Liebe zu Ihm had no opportunity to be present at the race itself, but we hope you'll like the pictures of the thursday training sessions too.
